Privacy & Cookie Policy
Johnny's Doggy Hotel, 12 Woodbreda Drive, Belfast BT8 7HZ, is the data controller for this website. This page explains, in plain terms, what we store on your device and what we do with the details you give us.

Your choice, and how to change it
When you first arrive we ask whether you are happy for us to use analytics cookies. Until you answer, nothing beyond the strictly necessary is stored and no analytics are collected. Refusing is exactly as easy as accepting, and the site works the same either way.
You can change your mind whenever you like, and as easily as you gave it:
Clearing your browser's site data for this site also erases your choice, and we will simply ask again on your next visit.
What we store on your device
Some of these are cookies in the strict sense; others are entries in your browser's local or session storage. They are all listed here because the rules treat them the same way, and so should we.
| Name | Type | What it is for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
jdh_cookie_consent |
Necessary Local storage |
Remembers the choice you made on the cookie banner, so we do not have to keep asking. Set only once you have answered. | Until you clear it |
jdh_session |
Analytics Session storage |
A random value with no connection to you, used only so that several page views in one visit are not counted as several visitors. Never set unless you accept analytics. | Until you close the tab |
jdh_game_popup_v… |
Necessary Local storage |
Notes that you have already been shown the Doggy Dash announcement, so it does not reappear on every visit. | A few days |
_ga, _ga_* |
Analytics Google Analytics 4 |
Google Analytics uses these to work out how many people visit and which pages are read. Set only if you accept analytics; while consent is denied, Google Analytics stores nothing. | Up to 2 years |
We do not sell advertising on this site and we do not use cookies to build a profile of you or to follow you elsewhere on the web.
Our own visitor figures
So that we can see how the site is doing without logging into Google, we keep a simple count of page views on our own server: which page was viewed, roughly what kind of device it was, the website you arrived from, and the country. We do not store IP addresses, and the session value described above is random and temporary. Like Google Analytics, this only happens if you accept analytics.
Details you send us
If you request a booking, join the shop's waiting list, or message us on WhatsApp, we hold what you tell us — your name, phone number, email address and anything you say about your dog — for the purpose of arranging that stay or answering that enquiry, and for our own records afterwards. The lawful basis is the performance of a contract with you, or our legitimate interest in replying to an enquiry.
Booking requests reach us by email through EmailJS, and the shop's waiting list is held in our own database. We do not pass any of it to anyone else for marketing, and the waiting list is used for exactly one message: to tell you the shop has opened.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you may ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to our using it. Just ask — there is no form and no charge. Email Johnnyfitz62@gmail.com or call +44 7866 592950 and we will sort it out.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
